Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 303.81 to 305.27 points, a gain of 0.48%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.49% at 304.76 points against 303.26 points previously.
The equity market capitalization rose by XOF 37 billion (about US$63.5 million) to close at XOF 7,520 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,483 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 43,314 traded stocks relative to 73,047 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,422.097 million (against XOF 2,001.661 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 25 traded securities via 234 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was SONATEL SENEGAL with 25,568 traded securities (accounted for about 59.03 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 674.506 million contributing nearly 47.43 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 3.37 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.54.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 25 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 9 witnessed price drops and 6 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. BICI COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price advancers by adding 2.97 percent to end at XOF 104,000. VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 2.11 percent at XOF 72,500 and UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 24,500 after adding 2.08 percent. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE share price climbed by 1.83 percent to close at XOF 83,500 and SONATEL SENEGAL with a closing price of XOF 26,400 after rising by 1.54 percent.
On the contrary, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE dipped by 2.98 percent to settle at XOF 29,105 as the biggest loser and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 2.44 percent to trade at XOF 80,000. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 1.64 percent to close at XOF 15,000 and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE lower by 1.64 percent to trade at XOF 120,000. ONATEL BURKINA FASO traded at XOF 13,400 after dropping 1.47 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index sagged by 0.34 percent at 163.57 points and public utilities sector index rose by 1.12 percent to end at 843.69 points. Also, financial services sector index surged by 0.04 percent to end at 110.90 points and distribution sector index gained 0.40 percent to end at 573.82 points. The agriculture sector index declined by 0.81 percent to close at 195.25 points and transportation sector index remained unchanged to settle at 950.20 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
